How Often Should I Get Massage?
It depends on your body and stress level
Every person is different and we plan out visits depending on the unique needs and availability.
We often see someone with an acute problem when the first schedule a massage. Like shoulder pain that hasn’t gone away for instance. Depending on how the client responds from the session we would want to see them more frequently initially one to two times per week, then scheduling less often as the muscles begin to release and the pain is eliminated. Eventually depending on the cause of the issue the client will want to see their massage therapist one to two times per month to keep their muscles in a relaxed state. And of course regular visits help reduce the feeling of stress in the body.
We have stressful busy lives and demand a lot from our bodies. Not to mention that sitting at a desk or on the couch for extended lengths of time is not healthy for our bodies. We find that most people can keep major aches and pains at bay with this type of regular schedule.
If however the pain is caused by the type of work you do for instance. The client will need to maintain a more frequent appointment schedule as maintenance for their stress on the body.
Of course athletes need more regular body work as well especially when they are in their busy training and event season to keep them ready to perform at their best and to prevent injuries.
There is some interesting research on more frequent massages being more beneficial. We take clients on a case by case basis as well as what works in their schedules.
