Stretch of the Week- Side Bend
We see so much lower back tension and pain that regular stretching can really help keep you feeling good. Stretching the side of the body opens up the lower back muscles, lats, lateral shoulder and ribs. It’s perfect for this time of year because it makes space in the lungs also which helps with the energy in the lungs keeping them healthy during cold season.
You want to practice this stretch in the morning or after a day of working especially a lot of sitting. Hold 30 – 60 seconds per side.
Stand with feet hip width apart, raise right arm, lengthen the body up toward the sky then bend toward your left without collapsing the upward length. Repeat other side. Keep the neck and jaw relaxed throughout.
