Massage Works for Ultra Marathon Man
I’m always excited when I see an article or interview by athletes who talk about how massage helps them recover and stay injury free in their sports.
I picked up a copy of Competitor magazine yesterday and there was an article titled “UltraRunning Body Shop” in which Tim Neckar, a running coach and ultra runner (someone who runs distances greater then a marathon) gave the 3 ways he remains injury free.
1. Incorporate a strength routine into your weekly schedule
2. Ice Baths, 15 minutes in an ice bath to reduce inflammation
3. Massage at least once a week… sometimes two “to bring life back to beaten muscles”
